LAG Trailers strengthens commitment to sustainability with installation of 2.112 solar panels.
LAG Trailers is accelerating its sustainability ambitions with the installation of 2.112 solar panels on the roofs of its production facilities. This large-scale investment marks a significant milestone in the company’s ongoing efforts to reduce its ecological footprint and promote environmentally conscious entrepreneurship.
The move toward solar energy builds on a series of sustainable initiatives that LAG Trailers has undertaken since 2016. These include a complete switch to energy-efficient LED lighting in production halls, transitioning from fuel oil to natural gas for heating and upgrading its in-house water purification system. A new, more efficient painting process has also substantially reduced solvent emissions, while the introduction of electric company vehicles and on-site charging stations in 2024 further underlines LAG’s green commitment.
The installation of the solar panels, which began in early 2025, took place on the roof surface of the production facility. “After completing the necessary structural upgrades, including a new high-voltage cabin, we successfully installed 2.112 panels,” says Niels Dingenen, Supply Chain Manager at LAG Trailers. The result: approximately 25% of the company’s electricity needs will now be met with renewable energy, cutting annual CO₂ emissions by around 125 tonnes.
“Choosing solar energy is not just a step toward a greener future for LAG Trailers - it’s a tangible contribution to the planet,” says CEO Rob Ramaekers. “Our goal is clear: contribute to sustainable manufacturing. We are fully committed to reducing our ecological impact, now and in the future.”
Looking ahead, the company plans to expand the solar energy system further. By 2030, an additional 600 solar panels are expected to be installed, further amplifying the environmental benefits.
With this initiative, LAG Trailers reaffirms its role as a responsible and forward-thinking player in the commercial vehicle industry, setting a benchmark for sustainability within the sector.
