LAG Trailers opens new production line for silo containers.

LAG Trailers recently finalized the investment in it’s new production line for aluminium silo containers. The stroke line heightens the efficiency with 15% and is part of a series of investments to reach the goal of becoming Europe’s biggest tank builder by 2020.

New production line investment

COO Rob Ramaekers is happy to announce the completion of its investment in the new production line for silo containers. Thanks to this investment the aluminium containers can be welded from start to finish in the same stroke line as compliant with the streamlined stroke line of the silo semi-trailers which has been opened in 2016.

Capacity increase

As a result of the implementation of this new line, the efficiency increases by more than 15 % while LAG lifts the output in 1 shift from 5 to 7 units per week. Combined with the increasing use of the 'global supply chain' of the transport division within the parent company CIMC, this brings the capacity for silo containers up to 600 units per year.

The investments are certainly not yet completed. The Belgian tank builder currently investigates in detail which steps in the production process can be further automated.

Logical step in the renewed strategy

The new optimization of the production follows closely on the investment of 2017, which comprised a cash injection of approximately € 2 million in the spray and drying cabins as well as the final assembly line for both silo semi-trailers and silo containers. This assembly line hereby increased its capacity in 1 shift to 20 units per week, so that the total available annual capacity is 1,800 silo vehicles.
